Bruno Mars The pop singer met the man he’s nicknamed after: former pro wrestling champ Bruno Sammartino. The two met Tuesday when Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour stopped in Pittsburgh. Mars, born Peter Gene Hernandez, was nicknamed “Bruno” by his father after his favorite wrestler because he was a “chunky” baby. Sammartino, 81, said he was “extremely impressed” by Mars. “He was the most humble, nicest guy.” Mars posted a picture on Instagram saying, “I was nicknamed after this professional wrestler Bruno Sammartino.
