  • Raiders lean on gritty, nasty offensive line
By Ron Kroichick - Friday Sep 22, 2017

On a screen pass to Marshawn Lynch on Sept. 10 against Tennessee, center Rodney Hudson and right guard Gabe Jackson nimbly and menacingly rushed to clear space for Lynch, swatting away Titans in their path. On Jalen Richard’s 52-yard touchdown run on Sept. 17 against the Jets, tackle Marshall Newhouse tied up one defensive player, Hudson knocked another to the ground and Jackson and left tackle Donald Penn hustled downfield to help. On Cordarrelle Patterson’s 43-yard TD sprint in the same game, Hudson planted linebacker Demario Davis on his butt and left guard Kelechi Osemele tenaciously pushed linebacker Darron Lee nearly 10 yards off the line of scrimmage.

  • NY agency called Justice Center may lack power to prosecute
By DAVID KLEPPER, Associated Press - Wednesday Sep 20, 2017

(AP) — A New York state agency launched four years ago to protect the disabled from abuse and neglect was staffed with a team of investigators and prosecutors empowered to bring criminal cases against alleged wrongdoers. But it lacked one key thing, according to three recent court rulings: the legal authority to actually prosecute anyone. That has potentially put dozens of convictions in jeopardy and threatens to undermine the mission of the agency, known as the Justice Center, to protect the 1 million disabled, addicted and mentally ill in state care.
