  • You're a self-aware vacuum-cleaner robot in this adorable new video game
By Gianluca Mezzofiore - Tuesday Oct 17, 2017

Smart appliances are becoming more and more part of our lives, but what if one of them becomes self-aware? What if your Roomba develops a consciousness, emotions, feelings and all of that?

That's the concept behind Rumu, the debut adventure game by Robot House, a small Sydney-based team of developers.

As the emotionally packed trailer for the game shows, Rumu is a vacuum-cleaning robot designed to clean in a fully automated smart home.

The voice that talks to you and gives you orders is from Sabrina, the house AI. She's your only companion except for Ada, the cat. What happens next is a mystery, but the game promises to be "intimate" and "narrative-driven."  Read more...

  • A Former Navy SEAL On The Hidden Influencers In Every Team
By Chris Fussell - Tuesday Jun 13, 2017

To spot who they are, have every new hire follow this rule for 90 days.

In 2010, I was an executive officer in the Navy, splitting my time between U.S. headquarters and being deployed to an international location. This arrangement proved tricky as my responsibilities at headquarters grew, so I was authorized to hire a civilian to handle budget management, equipment maintenance, travel, and training coordination, among other functions.

  • Master the art of adulting with this cordless, bagless vacuum
By Ben Reininga - Wednesday Sep 6, 2017

Hello, friends. We’re here today with an important lesson in adulting. It might sound a little nuts, but: you need to own a vacuum cleaner. What, you say? But, I’m still young! I say things like “woke” and “bae” and own a fidget spinner.

That’s all well and good. But if you have an apartment or a house or really any place with floors, you still need a vacuum cleaner. And if you can't afford a Dyson (yet), this cordless vacuum by Eufy is a great choice — and hugely on sale.

This is not good news for Snap Inc. The parent company of Snapchat saw its shares tumble in after-hours trading today after it reported disappointing user growth in its Q2 2017 earnings. It’s only the second earnings report since Snap went public in March, and hopes for a turnaround are deteriorating. Shares fell to $11.90 after hours, an all-time low. Snap debuted on the NYSE at $17 a share. It fell below that price a month ago and hasn’t recovered. The company reported daily active users growth of 7 million to 173 million total, but analysts were expecting about 8 million new users, CNBC reports. You can check out Snap’s full earnings release here. We’ll have more after the call later today.
