    With Lightwire Theater, it can be hard to believe that what you’re seeing isn’t a sparely animated film. The New Orleans company, whose “Moon Mouse: A Space Odyssey” plays for just one day at Palo Alto’s Oshman Family Jewish Community Center, performs its children’s shows in pitch black, its characters’ outlines illuminated by battery-powered glow-in-the-dark wire. Since just outlines are lit, and otherwise dancers wear black, their bodies seem to be two-dimensional, part of the dark background. As you watch Lightwire’s shows, your brain is constantly trying to parse that optical illusion, while your imagination fills in the gaps between what’s illuminated.
