The offshore gales that propelled massive blazes in the Wine Country will return Wednesday night and Thursday, increasing the risk of fires in the North Bay, according to the National Weather Service. At least 15 people were killed and 2,000 structures were leveled after the fires erupted late Sunday, tearing through northern Santa Rosa, the Wine Country and elsewhere in the North State. And the ravaged areas are still vulnerable. Forecasters issued a red flag warning for the North Bay hills from 5 p.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday, and for the East Bay hills from 11 p.m. Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday.

More than 114,000 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers in the North Bay lost power Monday, as wildfires raged through Napa and Sonoma counties. Hardest hit was Santa Rosa, with more than 23,460 customers blacked out, and St. Helena, with more than 7,660 losing electricity service, according to a PG&E website that tracks outages. The blackouts occurred through a broad swath of the wine country, from Geyserville in the north to Napa in the south. PG&E was mobilizing employees — from within the Bay Area as well as other parts of the state — to converge on base camps in both Napa and Sonoma counties to assess damage and where possible restore power.

The advisory includes areas East of Silverado Trail, between Trancas Street and Soscol Avenue, East of Soscol Avenue between Siverado Trail and West Imola Avenue, East of HWY 221 between West Imola Avenue and HWY 29, East of HWY 29 between HWY 221 and Jameson Canyon Road, North of Jameson Canyon Road between HWY 12 and the Napa-Solano county line.
