By Michael Cabanatuan - Wednesday Aug 30, 2017
Powell Street station has reopened two hours after a suspicious package was found on the concourse level near Fourth Street, and BART and Muni train service has resumed. Service was halted while the San Francisco Police Department’s bomb squad inspected the package, which BART police spotted at 1:22 p.m. near the Fourth Street entrances to the station. At first, BART and Muni trains bypassed the station but later service was halted at the Montgomery and Civic Centers stations. Market Street was also closed between Fourth and Fifth streets. Information on the package and how it was disposed of was not immediately available.
