A hunt for a possibly injured mountain lion was launched by police Wednesday night in Santa Rosa after a driver reported hitting the big cat with a car, police said. Officers went to Montecito Meadow Drive and Chanate Road about 9:30 p.m. after a driver reported hitting what may have been a mountain lion. The officers searched the area but did not find the animal, authorities said. In a separate incident about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers failed to find a mountain lion following reports of one spotted less than a mile away at Fountain Grove Parkway and Chanate Road, police said.
