  • At North Bay evacuation center, local entertainers help ease hopelessness
By Ryan Kost - Saturday Oct 14, 2017

Libby Garrison showed up to work in San Raphael at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9. Normally she’d have done her usual work as the marketing and communications director for Marin County’s Department of Cultural Services, answering phones, emails and reaching out to community movers and shakers. But by 11 a.m., as the scope of the North Bay wildfire damage that had rocked Santa Rosa and surrounding areas became clear, and her job changed. Now she works as the activities coordinator for the 500 or so evacuees who are staying in the Marin Center, the county’s major performing arts and events venue.
