    Patrick Haggerty’s band Lavender Country made history with its self-titled 1973 album, known as the first country music album to openly discuss gay themes. Post:Ballet’s latest work is inspired by Haggerty, drawing on his idea of Lavender Country as a metaphorical place of safety and welcome. This new work of the same title by artistic director Robert Dekkers and choreographer Vanessa Thiessen reflects on concepts of vulnerability and shared humanity, featuring six dancers whose movements explore the tension between queer narratives and ballet’s traditional gender roles. Following the dance performance, Haggerty and the Lavender Country ensemble will be live in concert.
