  • This fancy pop-up sushi bar for dogs proves we're now subservient to our pets
By Shannon Connellan - Tuesday Nov 14, 2017

If you've already bowed to your dog's every whim, buying them a highly opulent Moncler parka, a water bottle you can share, and a sexy, calming leotard, why stop there?

Ditch the canned dinner and take Rex to a slick sushi bar just for dogs. (Yes, we’re talking about real, quality fish. Jealous?)

Poochi Sushi, a dog-only sushi pop-up is opening in Auckland, New Zealand, according to Concrete Playground. Opening for one day on Dec. 3 in Parnell's Heard Park, the pop-up will feature three sittings of 10-12 dogs per session, with each sitting organised by pup size — imagine watching a Pomeranian attempt to get a look at an Alaskan Malamute party. Not happening. Read more...

  • Suite Spot: The Westbury, London
By Jeanne Cooper - Wednesday Aug 9, 2017

Between the designer boutiques of New Bond Street and the tailors of Savile Row, amid an architectural gamut from Georgian to modern mid-rise buildings. The Westbury’s recent renovations, which reduced the total number of rooms to 225 but increased the number of suites, brought Italian fabrics, redwood paneling, marble bathrooms and Nespresso machines. In-house dining is pricey but suitably exquisite, from the inventive seasonal cuisine of Michelin-starred chef Alyn Williams to artfully presented morsels at Tsukiji Sushi and expert cocktails at the discreetly clubby Polo Bar. Prix-fixe lunches at Alyn Williams and Tsukiji Sushi offer the best values year-round, while the Polo Bar serves an elegant afternoon tea, but only in summer. [...] within a 10-minute walk, the similarly obscured Shepherd’s Market offers a jumble of quaint pubs and restaurants. For longer stays, consider upgrading to one of 64 suites, the smallest at 388 square feet, with sofa, walk-in shower and separate bath.

  • ‘Yelp drives me crazy’ — Andrew Zimmern goes on an epic rant against the restaurant review site
    By Gene Kim, provided by
    - Monday Jul 31, 2017

Andrew Zimmern, the host of "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" on the Travel Channel, is spending his new season traveling around the US searching for interesting foods to try. In this video, Zimmern shares his interesting perspective on the crowd-sourced review application Yelp. Following is a transcript of the video.I just… ugh… Yelp drives me crazy.I think Yelp is neither good nor bad for the food industry. I find it useless. If you're aggregating a lack of expertise, then when I plug in “best sushi bar in Los Angeles,” Yelp doesn't help me at all. So, if you are a huge food geek like me that really believes in quality — not expensive food, just quality. Above all other things — quality.
