Steve Bannon once said it was the platform for the alt-right. Its current editors disagree. Is the incendiary media company at the nerve center of Donald Trump’s America simply provocative — or dangerous?

- QB controversy is under way: Fans blast Shaw for starting Chryst
By Tom FitzGerald - Saturday Oct 7, 2017
Salt Lake City — Stanford chat rooms have been flooded with criticism of head coach David Shaw’s decision to start Keller Chryst rather than K.J. Costello in Saturday night’s game against No. 20 Utah. Shaw could have ignited a louder outcry only if he had announced he was quitting to take the athletic director’s job at Cal. “Starting Chryst is catastrophically dumb,” one post said on Rivals.com. “Very disappointing development,” said another. “Has (Shaw) noticed how much better and more confident the (offense) has been with Costello? We can’t afford indecision and rotations screwing up momentum in such a huge game for (the) season.

- Stanford’s Davis Shaw will wait on Keller Chryst’s status before naming QB
By Tom FitzGerald - Tuesday Sep 26, 2017
To any Stanford fans who were expecting David Shaw to proclaim, “Eureka! We have found a quarterback and his name is K.J. Costello.” Sorry, Stanford’s head coach doesn’t work like that. Costello took over a struggling offense late in the first quarter Saturday night and guided the Cardinal on nine scoring drives in a 58-34 win over UCLA. It would seem obvious to many observers that, regardless of Keller Chryst’s health, Costello should have the job until he plays his way out of it. Shaw, though, can be as conservative on lineup decisions as he frequently is on play-calling. As is his custom, he won’t disclose the nature of Chryst’s injury, although he said the redshirt junior is “feeling better.
- Stanford QB Keller Chryst to start vs. Oregon, but K.J. Costello will play
By Tom FitzGerald - Tuesday Oct 10, 2017
Stanford’s quarterback rotation is over. Keller Chryst will start Saturday night against Oregon and play most of the game, head coach David Shaw said Tuesday. In Saturday’s 23-20 win at Utah, Chryst and redshirt freshman K.J. Costello alternated, each getting about two series at a time. Costello also will play against the Ducks, but Shaw wouldn’t say how much. He gave both quarterbacks a “B to B-minus” for the Utah game. All the Cardinal points came on Chryst-led drives, but Shaw said that wasn’t a factor in the decision. He just liked the redshirt junior’s overall play. “Both guys made field-position-changing plays,” he said.
