Laura Joss, a 27-year veteran of the National Park Service who has led the agency’s West Coast office for the past year and a half, was appointed to the top post at the Golden Gate National Recreation Area on Thursday. As GGNRA superintendent, the Marin County resident will head the park service’s most visited site, a collection of federally managed historic and scenic properties around the Bay Area, including the Marin Headlands, Alcatraz, Ocean Beach, Fort Funston and the Presidio.
