A big rig hauling about 20,000 pounds of cardboard caught fire in Dublin Wednesday morning, closing two lanes of Interstate 580, according to California Highway Patrol. Shortly after 5:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a big rig “fully engulfed” in flames on the right shoulder of eastbound I-580, a mile from Eden Canyon Road, according to Officer Tyler Hahn, a CHP spokesman. A caller reported that the truck had been leaking fuel and smoking when the driver pulled over onto the shoulder, according to the CHP. The driver safely exited and no injuries were reported.
