  • Syracuse stuns No. 2 Clemson 27-24
By John Kekis - Saturday Oct 14, 2017

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — As the celebration in the Syracuse locker room reverberated through the walls of the Carrier Dome, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney winced a little bit, dreams of a perfect season lost in a sea of orange. Eric Dungey threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns, Cole Murphy kicked a tie-breaking field goal in the fourth quarter, and Syracuse stunned No. 2 Clemson 27-24 on Friday night to put a damper on the Tigers’ hopes of repeating as national champions. Down maybe, but not completely out. The Tigers (6-1, 4-1 ACC) won the national championship last season despite a loss during the season to Pittsburgh. “Every goal is there for this team,” Swinney said.

  • ‘Atomic Blonde’ Review: Charlize Theron Overcomes Bad Guys and the Script in Uneven Spy Thriller
    By Alonso Duralde, provided by
    - Thursday Jul 27, 2017

Based on the best moments of “Atomic Blonde,” I would very much like to see a series of films in which Charlize Theron’s ruthless, brutal and glamorous secret agent dispatches a variety of Cold War-era enemies to the accompaniment of hit songs from the 80s.[...] should that series come to be, audiences can look back on “Atomic Blonde” as the erratic-but-on-to-something near miss that it is, in the same way that 007 fans honor “Dr. No” but acknowledge that “Goldfinger” was where the franchise really took flight. The Cold War is on the verge of ending, leaving many of the players abandoned on the chessboard with no direction to follow, and that’s one of many ideas that the film flirts with exploring before blasting another vintage pop song instead. The screenplay by Kurt Johnstad (“Act of Valor,” “300”), based on Antony Johnston and Sam Hart’s Oni Press graphic novel series “The Coldest City,” doesn’t quite know how to fill the gaps between the action set pieces; it eventually corkscrews into a third-act switcheroo-on-a-switcheroo that’s both baffling and utterly unearned.Leitch has some fun with specificity of time and place, whether by casting German film icons like Barbara Sukowa and Til Schweiger in supporting roles or staging a fight scene behind the screen of an East Berlin movie theater that’s screening Andrei Tarkovsky’s “Stalker.”Theron, of course, wraps this movie around her little finger and the audience with it, and her fellow players are game as well, particularly Boutella, displaying a level of sexy wit and spark that her title role in “The Mummy” denied her.

  • Melissa Joan Hart Says Hurricane Maria Wrecked Her Vacation
    By Reid Nakamura, provided by
    - Wednesday Sep 20, 2017

Melissa Joan Hart has come under fire for an Instagram post lamenting the fate of her vacation as yet another hurricane batters the Caribbean.“And just like that, our family vacation is canceled,” the actress wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post on Tuesday, along with a photo of news that Hurricane Maria had made landfall on the island of Dominica. “Such a bummer but we plan to hit the @nickresortpuntacana resort another time this year.”Notably, Punta Cana resort is in the Dominican Republic on the island of Hispaniola, not the island of Dominica. The post was shared on Twitter, and some of the replies criticized Hart for making light of the natural disaster and for not knowing her geography. The tweet has also been removed.
