    NEW YORK (AP) — Bruno Mars is expanding his support of a Grammy scholarship for high school students.The five-time Grammy winner had lent financial support for a student from his native Hawaii to attend the Grammy Museum's Grammy Camp since 2014 to honor his late mother. Now a student nationwide will be eligible, and Mars will cover the student's tuition, housing and transportation. Mars will fund a student a year for five years.Grammy Camp allows students to learn about the industry from professionals and has sessions in Los Angeles and Nashville, Tennessee.The "24K Magic" singer — who is also a producer, songwriter and plays multiple instruments — expressed his gratitude to Grammy Camp.

  • Grammys Social Game No Trivial Matter

    The Grammy Awards are nearly six weeks away, but it's never too soon to begin promoting (and building buzz) for the event. The Recording Academy, which puts on the awards, has launched a socialtrivia game (running through Jan. 29) titled "Get Me to the Grammy's," that will award players with seven weekly prizes from each of the Grammy's six participating partners (Delta Airlines, Harman,Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Hitlab, MasterCard and Procter & Gamble). The grand prize will feature two tickets to the award show on Feb. 10 in Los Angeles.

  • Publisher Tronc acquires Daily News, storied NY tabloid

    NEW YORK (AP) — Newspaper publisher Tronc has acquired the Daily News, a storied New York tabloid newspaper that won a Pulitzer Prize this year but has been buffeted by the changing media environment.Chicago-based Tronc Inc., the publisher of the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, announced the deal Monday night, and the Daily News posted a story on its website.Tronc CEO Justin Dearborn said acquiring the paper and its popular website would "provide us with another strategic platform for growing our digital business, expanding our reach and broadening our services for advertisers and marketers," and both Tronc and Daily News executives said the company would maintain the quality of the paper's journalism.

    NEW YORK (AP) — R&B singer Tamar Braxton has filed to divorce her husband Vincent Herbert, who is also her manager.Braxton filed for divorce this week in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences. They were married in 2008 and the documents say they separated this month.They are parents of 4-year-old Logan Herbert. Braxton is seeking joint custody of their son but wants Logan to live with her.Braxton rose to fame in 2011 on "Braxton Family Values," the WEtv reality series featuring Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton and her four sisters. The show helped boost Tamar Braxton's music career, earning her Grammy nominations.
