Disney’s possible acquisition of Fox’s movie and TV production business and many of its cable channels would dramatically shake up the pay-TV industry. But it could also position the Mouse House to be an even bigger cheese in TV’s digital future.When Disney reported its last quarterly earnings in August, the company also announced that it would be launching an ESPN-branded streaming service in 2018 and a Disney-flagged one the following year, and pulling its films from Netflix in conjunction with that move. Disney would be starting out with less content than Netflix — but acquiring Fox’s film and TV studio would certainly help fill that gap.
