A 16-year-old boy bicycling with his father suffered life-threatening injuries when he was hit by a pickup truck Thursday night in Vallejo and dragged 100 feet, officials said.The collision, which also left the boy’s 43-year-old father with minor injuries, occurred at about 8:45 p.m. in a residential area on Columbus Parkway, south of Georgia Street, police said.The father and son, both from Vallejo, were pedaling northbound on Columbus Parkway when the 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup, also traveling north, rammed the teenager from behind and clipped his father, police said.Witnesses reported that the Avalanche swerved out of the lanes onto the right-hand edge of the roadway, where the father and son were biking, police said.

The boy sustained life-threatening head and internal injuries when he was hit by a pickup truck and dragged about 100 feet around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday in a residential area on Columbus Parkway, south of Georgia Street, according to police. The pickup truck, a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, rammed the boy from behind and clipped his 43-year-old father as the pair pedaled north on Columbus Parkway, police said. Witnesses told police the truck swerved from the lanes onto the right-hand edge of the roadway where the father and son were biking, according to police. The boy’s father sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the Avalanche — a 53-year-old Vallejo man — was not injured, police reported.
