  • Night at the Jewseum explores Jewish folktales
By Ryan Kost - Tuesday Sep 26, 2017

Night at the Jewseum is back this Thursday, Sept. 28, giving people an opportunity to spend the evening perusing the Contemporary Jewish Museum’s exhibitions while also enjoying performances, talks and other diversions. The night’s theme is “Myths and Monsters,” and coincides with the opening of the museum’s latest exhibition, “Jewish Folktales Retold: Artists as Maggid” (hence the after-hours theme). The show includes newly commissioned pieces by 16 artists, all responding to tales from Jewish folklore from Howard Schwartz’s anthology “Leaves From the Garden of Eden: One Hundred Classic Jewish Tales.” The book, published in 2009, draws stories from a number of countries over many centuries.
