Tronc wasformerly Tribune Publishing, the publisher of the 'Chicago Tribune,' which originally created the 'New York Daily News' nearly a century ago.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday released the identity of a Santa Rosa man killed in a double shooting in Forestville Friday night that investigators suspect was drug-related. Theros Frank Fountaine, age 46, was one of two men police found in a field near River Road at Trenton-Healdsburg Road in Forestville at around 6:40 p.m. Friday while investigating a shooting call. Fountaine was dead at the scene, sheriff’s department officials said, but another man, also in his 40s, was still alive. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he remains in critical condition. His name has not yet been released.

Authorities were notified about 4:30 p.m. about a man, who was last seen 300 yards away from the main beach in Forestville, slipping under the water, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.Multiple agencies were involved in the search, including the Forestville Fire Department, California State Parks staff, the California Highway Patrol and the Sheriff’s Office.“An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause and manner of death,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
