- Diesel bookstore collecting children’s books for wildfire victims
By John McMurtrie - Friday Oct 20, 2017
When a family loses everything it owns in a fire, there is little that can bring it solace. For children, however, books offer some comfort. They have the power to transport kids to another world, providing a happy escape or a lens through which to view their own experiences. With this sentiment in mind, Diesel, the independent bookstore in Larkspur, has been collecting books to send to children living in evacuation centers after the Wine Country fires. “It is a joy to bring relief to those in such pain and to bring something positive to bear on such loss,” said John Evans, who owns the store with Alison Reid.
