Stephen Curry’s ‘surreal’ summer continues with basketball camps, coaching Stephen Curry wasn’t wearing a striped shirt or a goofy hat Monday, but other than that, he’s spent his summer like the roaming character from the children’s book. On Monday, he was at the Ultimate Fieldhouse in Walnut Creek, holding his fourth annual SC30 Select camp, for the nation’s top high school players. Curry finds it somewhat surreal that he is in position to work with some of the best up-and-coming basketball players in the land. On Tuesday night, at 6 p.m., Curry will coach at Kezar Pavilion in the SC30 Select Showcase.

By Steve Kroner - Monday Aug 14, 2017
Jharel Cotton worked five innings and picked up the win in the A’s 3-0 victory over the White Sox in Chicago on June 23.The right-hander takes on the Royals in the opener of a three-game series at the Coliseum on Monday night. In the nearly two months since that victory on the South Side, Cotton has gone winless in four starts and has spent time on the disabled list because of a thumb blister. In his most recent outing, Cotton gave up six runs — including three homers — in six innings in a 6-3 loss to Seattle on Wednesday.Cotton can take some confidence from his first start against Kansas City this year; it was his best performance of 2017, He limited the Royals to two hits in seven innings in Oakland’s 2-0 win April 10.For the rest of this season, the A’s play only two teams — the Phillies and Tigers in mid-September — who appear out of postseason contention.
