- Commonwealth Club moves into new home
By J.K. Dineen - Wednesday Sep 13, 2017
Most first-time homeowners celebrate their new abode with, perhaps, a bottle of wine or a dinner out in the new neighborhood. The Commonwealth Club on Tuesday toasted homeownership with a short parade, a fireboat show and a performance by the San Francisco 49ers’ Noise Drum and Flag Team. A block of Steuart Street was closed as club members listened to speeches. A brass quintet from the San Francisco Symphony played “Fanfare for the Commonwealth Club,” composed for the occasion by San Francisco Conservatory of Music graduate student Michael Smith. “The Commonwealth Club finally has a home that our founders envisioned,” said club CEO Gloria Duffy.
