- Chris Martin turned a Linkin Park song into a ballad to honor Chester Bennington

On Tuesday night, Coldplay took a moment during their concert to pay respects for Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park who was found dead last month.
Chris Martin turned one of Linkin Park's songs off their debut album Hybrid Theory ("Crawling") into a ballad on the piano, and footage was shared online by Linkin Park band members and fans alike.
“I know this is probably going to end up on YouTube so I want to do it right, and I want to do it respectfully," a self-aware Martin said, after a false start according to The Guardian. He then dedicated the song to, "everybody who misses someone you know. When suicide happens, it of course unleashes unfathomable grief.
That anguish was multiplied Thursday when the public learned that Chester Bennington, the frontman for Linkin Park, not only killed himself but died on what would've been Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday.
The two men were close friends. They toured together in the late 2000s. Bennington and Cornell reached millions of fans with emotional music about psychological torment and resilience. When Cornell died by suicide in May, Bennington sang Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah at his memorial service. On Twitter, Bennington shared a love-filled remembrance of his friend: "I can't imagine a world without you in it," he wrote. During Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards, Jared Leto paid tribute to Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and Sound Garden's Chris Cornell, who both died by suicide earlier this year.
Taking the stage to introduce footage of Linkin Park's 2010 VMAs performance, Leto reflected on his friendship with the artists and encouraged those who may feel like "there is no hope" to "reach out, share your thoughts, do not give up."
