The strange blue dogs began appearing on the streets of Mumbai on August 11, reports the Guardian. After local residents surmised that their bright blue fur could be the result of swimming in a polluted river, they approached the pollution control board to ask that it investigate a local manufacturing company that they suspected could be illegally dumping dyes and other pollutants into the river. On Wednesday the pollution control board confirmed as much and the manufacturing company was shut down. An animal welfare company has managed to catch some of the dogs and wash the dye off and noted that they appear to be unharmed in other ways.

A three-day art exhibition curated expressly for dogs is attracting hundreds of canines to a marina in lower Manhattan, where hounds and terriers are feasting their eyes, and in some cases their mouths, on nearly a dozen masterpieces.The idea is the brainchild of former Washington Post art critic Jessica Dawson, who says she was inspired by her rescue dog Rocky, a tiny morkie (Yorkie-Maltese mix), who regularly joins her at exhibits of the human variety.Organizers of the exhibit, which takes its name from Documenta, which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany, and put on by Arts at Brookfield, staggered the arrival times of the dogs to keep things orderly.
