“The Geneva Convention” is a 15-minute, coming-of-age short film by Benoît Martin — the founder of French production company Année Zéro — that tells the story of a group of teenagers learning to solve their problems peacefully.In the real story, what happened when I was around 16 [years old] — it was the same situation where a friend of mine, who didn’t give back money to a guy, was supposed to take the bus and many people were waiting for him to beat him up.[...] in the real story the bus arrived and everyone got back home, Martin recalled, saying that he was far from interested in a fight. [...] it’s another character, Nawel (Soumaye Bocoum), who actually ends up successfully convincing everyone to solve the problem without resorting to a physical altercation — and the solution involves chocolate croissants.“For me, it’s important the we can laugh about the situation,” said the filmmaker, adding that he hopes audiences can identify with one or two of the teenage characters in the film, and ask themselves:
