- Curran Theatre announces ‘Bright Star’ as holiday show
By Lily Janiak - Thursday Sep 14, 2017
“Bright Star,” the bluegrass musical by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, will play at the Curran from Nov. 28 to Dec. 17, impresario Carole Shorenstein Hays announced Thursday, Sept. 14. Carmen Cusack stars as Alice, a North Carolina literary editor with a shady past, reprising the part she played at San Diego’s Old Globe, Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center and on Broadway, where she received one of the show’s five Tony nominations. Walter Bobbie, who was also attached to the Broadway production, directs. The show was inspired by Martin and Brickell’s previous collaboration on the bluegrass album “Love Has Come For You,” where three of the musical’s songs first appeared.
