  • Autumn Moon Festival in SF Chinatown
By Mariecar Mendoza - Wednesday Sep 27, 2017

The streets of San Francisco will be crawling with lions dancing to the beat of the drum as the city’s Chinatown celebrates the annual Autumn Moon Festival on Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1. A long-standing tradition in China and now in the Bay Area, which boasts one of the largest Chinese American populations in the country, the two-day festival honors the celestial sphere that plays such a vital role in Asian folklore. Entertainment over the weekend includes numerous lion dancers; a fashion show; Moon Festival singers Maggie Wong, Welson Tso and Flora Hui; opening and closing parades; plus much more.

Greg Wai, whose job was to be at the front end of a two-man costumed lion that danced its way down the thoroughfare, said it’s a big responsibility to be a lion’s head.

This wasn’t how this year’s New York baseball season was supposed to shape up. All the analysts were wrong. And the analysts have gotten the football season wrong...
