This is not good news for Snap Inc. The parent company of Snapchat saw its shares tumble in after-hours trading today after it reported disappointing user growth in its Q2 2017 earnings. It’s only the second earnings report since Snap went public in March, and hopes for a turnaround are deteriorating. Shares fell to $11.90 after hours, an all-time low. Snap debuted on the NYSE at $17 a share. It fell below that price a month ago and hasn’t recovered. The company reported daily active users growth of 7 million to 173 million total, but analysts were expecting about 8 million new users, CNBC reports. Disney and Lucasfilm are moving forward on a live-action tv series set in the “Star Wars” universe. The series is intended for Disney’s streaming service which is expected to launch sometime in 2019. No details about the series were made public.Disney announced the ne series during its quarterly earnings call, the same call in which it announced “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson will oversee a brand new “Star Wars” trilogy that will begin production sometime after 2019’s “Star Wars: Episode 9.”Iger also revealed that the streaming service is also going to be the home of another original series from Marvel along with TV adaptations of “Monsters, Inc.” and “High School Musical.

NEW YORK (AP) — Newspaper publisher Tronc has acquired the Daily News, a storied New York tabloid newspaper that won a Pulitzer Prize this year but has been buffeted by the changing media environment.Chicago-based Tronc Inc., the publisher of the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune, announced the deal Monday night, and the Daily News posted a story on its website.Tronc CEO Justin Dearborn said acquiring the paper and its popular website would "provide us with another strategic platform for growing our digital business, expanding our reach and broadening our services for advertisers and marketers," and both Tronc and Daily News executives said the company would maintain the quality of the paper's journalism.
