A wildfire burning Sunday afternoon on the southern end of Yosemite National Park prompted the closure of a popular trail and put residents of the small Mariposa County community of Wawona on guard. Firefighters were attacking the blaze by air and foot with the hope of containing it to the wilderness west of Wawona, according to park fire officials. Park rangers closed the Chilnualna Falls Trail, where a large plume of smoke could be seen rising from the mountainous region, fire officials said.
