Runners racing across the Golden Gate Bridge in events like the San Francisco Marathon will have to stick to the sidewalks, the bridge district’s Board of Directors decided Friday. Until now, participants the San Francisco Marathon and the Rock ’n’ Roll San Francisco Half Marathon have been allowed run on the roadway, but the board put an end to it. The board voted to no longer make exceptions to a policy that precludes closing the bridge in either direction to accommodate large events, typically footraces that request to use one or two traffic lanes on an early weekend morning.

It took the Bond series 15 years and 10 movies to get to the ridiculed “Moonraker.” The laddish spy franchise “Kingsman: The Secret Service” series, based on Mark Millar’s comic book, has done it in one leap with the bloated, inexplicably un-entertaining follow-up “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.”Given that the movie struggles to justify its existence from scene to scene, and so ill-uses a VIP table’s worth of stars/actors — Elton John, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges — the better comparison might be to “Cannonball Run II.” At least “Moonraker” had Roger Moore’s bespoke suavity as a safeguard against series rot; this “Kingsman” seems to have gone straight from tailored to off-the-rack.

By Steve Rubenstein - Friday Aug 18, 2017
Two young Wisconsin daredevils were hit with charges of trespassing this week stemming from their climb in April to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge’s north tower — a stunt after which they posted video online of them dangling high over the roadway. Peter “Teatime” Kurer, 18, and Thomas Rector, believed to be in his 20s, were ordered to appear for arraignment in San Rafael on Sept. 12 on charges of trespassing and climbing a toll bridge, both misdemeanors, Marin County District Attorney Edward Berberian said Thursday.
