  • AROUND THE WEB

  • Inside New York City’s Priciest Rentals
By CAROLINE BIGGS - Friday Sep 1, 2017

Some New Yorkers could afford to buy multimillion-dollar properties, but they’d rather rent a place for upward of $20,000 a month.

  • ‘Tulip Fever’ Review: Long-Shelved Period Romance Is No Garden of Delights
    By Robert Abele, provided by
    - Friday Sep 1, 2017

“Tulip Fever” was a hot book in 2000, a stop-and-start movie project for years afterward, an actual production in 2014, then a now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t hot potato for three more years. It’s earned the kind of Hollywood conjecture that finds a fitting corollary in the movie’s scenes of Dutch traders speculating on tulip investments during the flower’s 17th century heyday.Would “Tulip Fever” ever show? When? In what form? Was it good? Bad? Just unlucky? Whoever placed a bet on September 1, 2017, as the official release date — after numerous appearances on the Weinstein Company schedule — collect your winnings.

  • Dustin Johnson finding groove, trails Henley by 1 at Northern Trust
By Associated Press - Thursday Aug 24, 2017

Dustin Johnson hasn’t felt this good about his game since he was winning every tournament he played. Johnson overcame a shaky start with a switch to his old putter to post a 5-under-par 65, leaving him one shot behind Russell Henley after the opening round of the Northern Trust at Westbury, N.Y. The 65 was his lowest round since he won at Riviera in February, which began his rise to No. 1 in the world. That was the start of three straight victories going into the Masters, where Johnson injured his back and had to withdraw. Henley played in the morning and holed seven birdie putts from 12 feet or close, along with an 80-foot chip-in for birdie for his 64.

  • Johnson pulls off a stunner over Spieth in Northern Trust
By Associated Press - Sunday Aug 27, 2017

Dustin Johnson faced long odds all day against Jordan Spieth until the longest drive led to an unlikely playoff victory Sunday in the Northern Trust at Old Westbury, N.Y. The opening FedEx Cup playoff event featured two of the biggest names in golf who put on an amazing show on Long Island. “I thought that was a fun show,” Spieth said. “I was hoping it wasn’t going to be that much fun.” Johnson rallied from a five-shot deficit on the front nine. And on the final hole in regulation, after one of the most powerful players in golf chose to lay up from the rough, his 18-foot par putt swirled around the cup and fell in the back side for a 4-under 66 to force a sudden-death playoff.
