  • AROUND THE WEB

  • Success
    Friday Mar 26, 2010

You know when it's 3:30 in the p.m., and time to say the heck with health guru Dr. Oz and his sermons about cruciferous veggies? You're drawn instead to a deli with a wall-full of chips and cookiesthat look better than the Super Bowl in 58-inch HD. That wealth of options calls to mind Success magazine (where Dr. Oz, incidentally, also has a health column). It's snackable content. Thereare no 8,000-word pieces about a genius solving spherical mathematical issues. No in-depth profiles about where Rahm Emanuel's power starts and stops.

  • Youths wielding paintball guns in SF blast Muni bus and driver
By Filipa Ioannou - Wednesday Jul 19, 2017

Youths wielding paintball guns in SF blast Muni bus and driver Three youths gave a Muni bus a new paint job when they blasted it with paintball guns in the Mission District of San Francisco, then fired at the driver when she got off the bus to investigate, police said Wednesday. The 36-year-old driver stopped the bus at Cesar Chavez and Mission streets about 10:07 a.m. when three boys, estimated to be 10 to 14 years old, walked up and started shooting at the front of the coach with paintball guns, according to the San Francisco Police Department. The driver got off the bus and the three boys fled, but not before one wheeled around and shot her multiple times with paintball pellets, police said. “She went out of the bus to investigate and then she realized she was getting shot by a paintball gun,” said Officer Robert Rueca, a police department spokesman.

  • Golden Gate Bridge crash involving casino bus, 2 cars injures 11
By Filipa Ioannou - Wednesday Jul 5, 2017

At least 11 people suffered minor injuries Wednesday when a casino bus collided with two vehicles on the Golden Gate Bridge, a chain-reaction crash that shut down two southbound lanes of the span for nearly an hour, officials said. The collision was reported about 12:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the bridge near its south anchorage, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol. The wreck occurred when a car came to a stop at the toll plaza and was hit from behind by another car before the bus rear-ended both vehicles, said Officer Andrew Barclay, a CHP spokesman. Eleven people were eventually transported to a hospital with minor injuries, eight from the bus and three from one of the cars involved in the crash, Barclay said.
