  • The fake news story about an NBA superstar that made Twitter feel every emotion
By Sam Laird - Wednesday Jun 21, 2017

It's OK, everybody: Kawhi Leonard has apparently not cut his braids.

And thus, a legion of fans exhales after a brief moment of questioning everything it thought it knew about the NBA and the universe.

Leonard is an NBA superstar for the San Antonio Spurs. His quiet, humble demeanor and his braids have been trademarks since before he entered the league in 2011. So when a photo emerged Tuesday night of Leonard apparently sporting a closely cropped hairdo, NBA fans kind of freaked out.

After all, this was the perfect morsel of quasi-important news for the NBA off-season, when nothing's really out of bounds. Read more...

  • A Former Navy SEAL On The Hidden Influencers In Every Team
By Chris Fussell - Tuesday Jun 13, 2017

To spot who they are, have every new hire follow this rule for 90 days.

In 2010, I was an executive officer in the Navy, splitting my time between U.S. headquarters and being deployed to an international location. This arrangement proved tricky as my responsibilities at headquarters grew, so I was authorized to hire a civilian to handle budget management, equipment maintenance, travel, and training coordination, among other functions.

  • Remembering Leonard Nimoy looks at the full life and private struggle of a beloved actor
By Lance Ulanoff - Saturday Jun 17, 2017

The love for Leonard Nimoy lives long and prospers, but does the world really need two Nimoy documentaries, one from each of his biological children?

    Logically speaking, yes it does.

“Our films are very different,” said Julie Nimoy, referring to her new documentary, Remembering Leonard Nimoy, and For the Love of Spock, the 2016 crowd-funded documentary by her brother Adam.

The latter film focused on the sometimes-fraught relationship between Adam Nimoy and his father, Leonard, who played the iconic Star Trek vulcan Mr. Spock on TV and films for almost 50 years. It was also an examination of how Nimoy built the character of this seemingly emotionless and exasperatingly logical starship science officer. Read more...

  • At Frank Ocean's first show in 3 years, a music fan found his voice — and viral fame
By Brian De Los Santos - Thursday Jun 15, 2017

Frank Ocean stood tall. Facing a crowd of 40,000 with a white hoodie hanging off his frame, sporting a black, backward baseball cap nestled under a pair of studio headphones, the singer wrapped both hands around a mic inches from his face, elbows tucked together, arms pulled into his chest as if in prayer, and sang in front of an audience for the first time in 1,089 days.

The air was brisk after a full day of rain that Friday evening in Denmark. Keysi Darbroudi — known as Keys to those closest to him — watched from the back of the crowd, ankles deep in mud, arms raised while clutching his iPhone 6 in his hand, streaming the hottest show in years on Instagram to more than 1,000 viewers around the world. This was Frank's moment, but Keys was about to steal the spotlight. Read more...

  • How a gang of celebrity moms is helping make sure families don't have to choose between diapers and food
By Rebecca Ruiz - Wednesday Jun 21, 2017

Earlier this month, Kerry Washington tweeted a video about dirty diapers to her 4.6 million followers.

The minute-long clip featured the Scandal star and mom of two talking not about her infant son, but about the fact that too many parents can't afford diapers and have to choose between them and other essentials like food and medicine.

"It's a crime that that would be true, that you would have to choose between feeding your kid or changing their diaper," Washington says.
