A San Jose police officer has been cleared in an investigation into the fatal shooting of a fleeing murder suspect in 2015, the second fatal officer-involved shooting in as many days, officials said.Forty-year-old Richard Jacquez was killed by police on Aug. 17, 2015, four days after allegedly raiding a business complex and fatally shooting 38-year-old Christopher Wrenn in the course of a robbery, according to a report from the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office.Wrenn was shot while trying to flee the robbery, a slaying that was recorded by surveillance cameras in the complex, police said.A day before Jacquez was killed, two San Jose police officers shot and killed Matthew Castillo, allegedly Jacquez’s associate in the Aug. 13 robbery, a shooting which the district attorney’s office determined to be lawful earlier this year.The San Jose Police Department has also come under scrutiny in 2017 for a rash of officer-involved shootings of mentally ill people and was criticized by the Department of Justice for alleged substandard accounting practices in a June audit.
