  • How a gang of celebrity moms is helping make sure families don't have to choose between diapers and food
By Rebecca Ruiz - Wednesday Jun 21, 2017

Earlier this month, Kerry Washington tweeted a video about dirty diapers to her 4.6 million followers.

The minute-long clip featured the Scandal star and mom of two talking not about her infant son, but about the fact that too many parents can't afford diapers and have to choose between them and other essentials like food and medicine.

"It's a crime that that would be true, that you would have to choose between feeding your kid or changing their diaper," Washington says.

  • Department of Defense still uses 8-inch floppy disks and other disturbing details from Jared Kushner's speech
By Lance Ulanoff - Monday Jun 19, 2017

I don’t care what Jared Kushner’s voice sounds like. It’s what he said that blew me away.

The globetrotting head of the White House Office of American Innovation broke his cipher-like silence on Monday to offer a stunning outline of the federal government's recidivistic tech tendencies.

At my first job at a tiny weekly newspaper in 1986, we used 8-inch floppies and a Digital Equipment Corp. system to back up the paper’s terminal-based production system.  Read more...

  • Trolls are posting photos of fake missing people from London tower fire
By Gianluca Mezzofiore - Wednesday Jun 14, 2017

As a massive blaze engulfed a London high-rise overnight, the usual trolls began spamming social media with photos of fake missing people, in a similar fashion to what happened in the aftermath of the Manchester terror attack

This time, Mexican trolls were particularly active in targeting the freelance journalist Andrea Noel, who was previously harassed online after sharing a video of a man assaulting her on the street.

The Twitter user @Sir_Thomaas posted a picture of Noel claiming she was missing:

Noel was also wrongly included in a collage of missing people after the Manchester attack, which went viral and even featured in some media reports: Read more...
