Stanford University was placed on alert Thursday as police investigated a report of a sexual assault on a student that occurred Wednesday in on-campus housing, with officials saying the suspect is a 53-year-old man the victim knew.The Stanford University Department of Public Safety issued an alert about 5:46 p.m. on Wednesday warning students that a rape had occurred on the west side of campus about 1:30 a.m.The suspect is described as approximately 53 years old, 6-foot-3 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.The Department of Public Safety and the university are investigating the incident, Bill Larson, a department spokesman, said Thursday.

Climb Real Estate, a boutique San Francisco brokerage focused on city-dwelling Millennials, has been acquired by NRT LLC, the nation’s largest residential brokerage, the companies announced Wednesday.NRT is the parent of Coldwell Banker, Sotheby’s International Realty and ZipRealty and a subsidiary of Realogy, a publicly traded real estate conglomerate.NRT has pursued the same approach with other regional firms it acquired including the Corcoran Group in New York City and Laura McCarthy Real Estate in St. Louis, said Bruce Zipf, NRT’s president and chief executive.Climb tries hard to appeal to Millennials by focusing on mobile technology and social media.“I believe what this represents is a more traditional type platform coming together with a more innovative, unique-type platform” and providing the financial capital to expand Climb in the Bay Area, Zipf said.Greg Macres, NRT’s executive vice president for the western region, said, We want our agents to be more mobile (and) stretch the boundaries of technology.

Jose Joaquin Arcega-Whiteside was born in Spain and had visited five European countries by the time he was 10 months old, eight by the time he was 2 years old. No wonder “J.J.,” as he has been known as he arrived in America at age 7, is majoring in international relations at Stanford, where the 6-foot-3 redshirt sophomore also is building a reputation for making extraordinary catches on the football team. Both his parents were professional basketball players in Europe. His mother, Valerie Whiteside, was an All-American at Appalachian State, where she set 26 school records and had her jersey number retired. His father, Joaquin Arcega, played many years in Europe.
