Two other companies that let people rent their cars to strangers, Turo and Getaround, pitch their peer-to-peer rentals as a way to generate extra income. [...] TravelCar offers cheap parking as a way to expose its brand to potential customers. TravelCar charges around $30 a day for travelers who rent other people’s cars; renters are responsible for refueling it. TravelCar recently raised $20 million from European investors including French car maker Groupe PSA to fuel its U.S. expansion.
