    Girl Scouts will soon be ready to take over your IT department. 

    The organization is teaming up with Palo Alto Networks, an internet security company, to introduce a set of new badges to promote computer and internet literacy and cybersecurity. The initiative aims to foster educational programs across all ages of the Girl Scouts, with a major emphasis on providing access to girls who might otherwise never be exposed to the field.

    The 18 new badges will be available to Girl Scouts across the US starting in September 2018.

  • DEV WATCH: Flipboard Debuts Curated Video

    A day after announcing hitting 20 million users, San Francisco-based Flipboard has introduced a new set of curated “TV” channels in the newsreaderapp's Content Guide sidebar. Powered by popular YouTube channels, the new video offering is organized into topics including cooking, music and news. 

    While Flipboard articles mayalready contain video, this is the first time the company created a separate video section to complement the personalized magazine experience. Among the publishers featured in the new TV channels areChow.com, TED, Noisey, Pitchfork TV, ABC News, CBS News and SciShow.

    For the video content providers, the move can only help expand their audiences. 

    Flipboard said its userbase of 20 million (or 1.5 million daily users) spends an average of 86 minutes per month with the app, flipping through 3 billion pages and generating 14.5 million social actions on sites likeFacebook, Twitter and Google+. Whether it will soon rack up millions of “views” per month, and what impact it will have on overall use remains to be seen.
