  • A car park space in Hong Kong just sold for the low low price of $664,260
By Yvette Tan - Thursday Jun 15, 2017

In a city where land is sparse, even parking lots go for a premium.

A parking space in Hong Kong has been sold for a record $664,260 (HK$ 5.18 million) — making it the most expensive parking space in the world, according to the South China Morning Post.

At just 188 square feet, or 17.5 square metres, that works out to a staggering $3,500 per square foot.

To put things in context, apartments in New York went for an average price of $1,750 per square foot, in mid-2016.

    A micro-apartment in New York

The buyer of the parking lot, an executive director of an investment firm in Hong Kong, already has two other parking spaces in the luxury apartment complex in the West of the island. Read more...

  • Kid immediately regrets trying to cut his own hair
By Brian Koerber - Wednesday Jun 28, 2017

"I'm going to cut my own hair."

Anyone who has ever muttered those words and followed through with cutting their own hair has a pretty good chance of regretting it.

This little man went in pretty confidently on his own haircut, likely because he gives his dad a simple cut every week to keep things sharp. Unfortunately, cutting your own hair in a mirror is way harder than cutting someone else's hair.

After just a few moments, the kid digs in a little too hard with the clippers, leaving a fresh bald spot in the middle of his head.

After a mild freakout, the kid tries to put the chunk of hair back to no avail.  Read more...

  • Congrats to this clever mama raccoon who broke into a car to give birth
By Chloe Bryan - Saturday Jul 15, 2017

No one wants their car broken into, but sometimes you gotta give credit where credit is due.

Consider, for example, this mother raccoon, who climbed through a plastic window cover and tumbled into the backseat of a parked convertible at an auto shop so she could safely give birth to her kits.

She was later relocated by Devon of Wildlife, Inc. Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Manatee, Florida.

"I captured the mother, then 2 caring employees and I searched the entire car for her babies," Devon wrote in a Facebook post. "Once they were both accounted for, I relocated them to some woods where she can continue to raise them." Read more...
