Soccer match at Levi’s Stadium expected to cause traffic gridlockWith more than 55,000 soccer fans expected to descend on Levi’s Stadium on Wednesday for a marquee match starting at 6:30 p.m. between the United States and Jamaica, commuters are bracing for rough play on the roadways during the evening rush hour. The 2017 Gold Cup final in Santa Clara is expected to provide transportation headaches that will test newly developed agreements between the stadium and the transit agencies that serve the area.Traffic gridlock around the stadium is expected to begin as early as 1:30 p.m., when the parking lots open at the venue, and spike again when the event ends about 9:30 p.m., police predict.Because California’s Great America near the stadium will remain open Wednesday, law enforcement agencies will not be able to set up counterflow lanes, which interfere with access to the amusement park.

- San Jose State football coach Brent Brennan is rooted in Spartans’ history
By Ryan Moran - Friday Jul 28, 2017
Wearing custom, spike-less golf shoes painted in Spartan blue and yellow, first-year San Jose State head coach Brent Brennan, approached a microphone at Levi’s Stadium on Friday and immediately was chided for his attire. Apparently, the white crew-neck underneath Brennan’s polo shirt was displeasing to the eye of Stanford’s associate athletic director Matt Doyle. The two went to high school together and Doyle’s father, Kevin, was a sports editor for the late Peninsula Times Tribune newspaper. And where did Kevin Doyle study? San Jose State. Brennan’s return to the Bay Area is greeted with history, from his mother, a former SJSU cheerleader, to his father, a former end for the Spartans.
